Geekerella - Book Review

Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite.
First off, this book is the reason I started this blog. Because I realized that my inner fangirl should not be chained up, but be allowed to run free.
Geekerella by Ashley Poston is a geeky retelling of the classical Cinderella story. But the main element of the book, for me, was how it reached out to all fangirls (or fanboys. Sorry, I didn't mean to be sexist.)
Ashley Poston has wonderfully laid out what it is to be a a fan, be part of a fandom, to relate to a fictional character and hold onto them even when everything else in our lives seem to be falling apart. How our lives, basically, become much more live-able due to the existence of fiction.
I felt that this book started off a bit slowly but soon picked up its pace and after that, I found it impossible to stop turning the pages.
It also had a great set of characters. Danielle will honestly give Cath (from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell) a run for her money with her hardcore fandom loyalty.
And Darien. Well, he is definitely not your typical Prince Charming. But he got abs, and who doesn't love abs?
I am joking. But geek boy turned actor, Darien Freeman, is such a real and adorable character, that it's hard not to love him.
Overall, it's an easy, feel-good romance which I definitely recommend.
Fangirl Rating: 4/5
